The Covasettes - Infectious. Phenomenal. Unmissable.Incredible. This band are incredible, what a brilliant band. From first listen I fell in love with them. The Covasettes are a quartet of lads from the student town of Fallowfield in Manchester, they are an indie-rock band who formed in mid-2016 and have been gigging extensively ever since. Late in 2017 they released their first single named "This Feeling", I could not believe this was only their first single, from the first note to the last I was completely entranced. The Covasettes may be a new band but this single could easily be their fourth or fifth, it sounds so well established and is so professionally produced. The driving rhythm of the guitar opens "This Feeling" before front-man Chris Buxton's impressive lyrics cut in and the punchy sound and groovy hooks leave you paralysed and longing for more. The lyrics themselves are intelligent and remind me of the likes of Little Comets through their clever metaphors, like in the chorus "I can't shake this feeling, it gets me every-time. You roll me up and smoke me, down until you’re high." The line hangs in the air and is imprinted into your mind. I only have great things to say about these lads, they have a similar feel to many of the bands from the 90's era of Brit-pop, they spark memories of their fellow Mancunians Oasis but yet have their own original style, surely there are only great things to come for them! Having been so blown away by their first single, they put a lot of pressure and expectation on themselves for their second, they released "Wondering Why" in March of this year and all my expectations were met by yet another infectiously brilliant indie-pop tune. They are making bullet-proof songs fuelled with captivating lyrics and feelgood, upbeat music you can't help but move your body to! The indie-pop and Brit-pop influences are even more apparent in their beautifully exquisite acoustic song "She Is" released on YouTube over a year ago, this acoustic track really emphasises the exceptional vocals. Having already grown a massive fan-base in Manchester and recently supported Oddity Road at a sell-out gig at the Deaf Institute in Manchester, the ripples are already spreading and it won't be long before this band blows up! I've got their two debut singles on constant repeat, I quite literally cannot wait for more. As debut singles go, these are two of the best I've heard, phenomenal to say the least. Undoubtedly these boys are going to go places, I've definitely got this feeling there is a massive future ahead for The Covasettes! Take a listen here:
