Picture This are yet another up and coming band from a small town in Ireland. This time in the form of duo Ryan Hennessy (vocals) and Jimmy Rainsford (drums) who rose to fame when they released their first single 'Take my Hand' on social media. They received an overwhelming response, and became -quite literally - an overnight success, which led to them selling out of their first gig at the The Academy Dublin - becoming the first band in the venues history to sell out a debut gig! Since then it has been a roller coaster ride for the band and they have now had their album out for several months. The album has a warm, emotional, nostalgic feel to it which is materialised by the calming acoustic guitar that complimetns the sublime vocals from Hennessy. They have an instantly recognisable sound that is unique to them, their raw talent cannot be denied; and let's not forget the band only formed in 2015 so they are only just over 2 years old and already have achieved so much.
The songs vary from having a faster tempo and dynamic sound which can be heard in 'You and I' and 'Dream' and in the dazzling piano heard in 'Everything I need', to the more romantic, poetic and peaceful tracks including 'Jane' and '95'. 'Never Change' continues the intimacy and expressive feel, they are honest with their words and their feel-good sentiments make their music entertaining, as well as deliciously satisfying to listen to. Picture This as a debut album does have a pop-like feel to it, however it still remains musically captivating and Hennessy's voice is tremendously charismatic and the two piece really do captivate each other. The talent these two boys from Ireland have has allowed them to produce a confident, authentic album which is emotionally-charged and beautifully fabricated. Picture This are a real breath of fresh air and all I can say is: their next album can't come soon enough.
