This website is all about finding and discovering the best new music, recently I happened to stumble across The Lapelles - a brilliant band from Scotland. I got listening to their 10-track self-titled debut album and I thought they were fantastic, I was a bit late to the party as they have already achieved great success The Lapelles had already bagged support slots with The View, The Kooks, Blossoms and The Last Shadow Puppets, who they played with in May 2016. I was devastated to read that front man Gary Watson tragically passed away in August 2016 following a terrible accident. Following his death the band then released their debut album they said that one of Gary’s aims was to have his music on vinyl, in fact the tracklisting for the record was actually found scrawled on a napkin Gary had stored in his bedroom! The 10 tracks are a collection of recordings, some studio, some home demos from 2014-2016. As the idea of this website is about discovering great music I thought it only right to feature The Lapelles' album on here and hopefully introduce you to a fantastic band in tribute to Gary Watson. 'Grab Life By' is undoubtedly their biggest hit, a huge indie-pop track, at the time of its release NME described the track as one “which possesses the youthful swagger of Catfish And The Bottlemen, but has more in common with the spirited indie-pop bangers of The Vaccines. Put simply – it’s massive" Overall The Lapelles are a superb Scottish band, its such a shame that we will never know what could have been but we can appreciate and enjoy the tracks that we have and you can listen to them all below:
