If you haven't read our last feature on The Covasettes, then make sure you check it out here. I was a bit worried after my last feature that I might have slightly over hyped The Covasettes, but a few months on and I received an email from the lads with their new single 'Top Drawer' and I think it took just under 20 seconds of the single for me to realise that I certainly hadn't over hyped them - if anything my words didn't do them justice. They are an unbelievable band, they've now released three singles and all three are absolutely flawless tunes that certainly are top drawer. We often get music submissions pre-release - which is always great - but this single was just that bit more special to receive because I am such massive fan of The Covasettes, it was even more special when I sat down for the first listen and within seconds I could just tell it was destined to be a classic summer anthem! ‘Top Drawer' opens with a thunderous crash created by Matt Buckley's drum set, before the whole band swoop in. As the tune revealed itself, my initial thoughts were undoubtedly confirmed: what a brilliant, vibrant, feel-good tune this is! The most refreshing thing is how they've not just produced another single following their first two, but they've come at us with a completely new approach with less of the rockier feel that 'This Feeling' and 'Wondering Why' brought and now are throwing a new dazzlingly upbeat tune towards us. The band commented on this saying "We’ve swapped the rockier sound for more of a vibrant, summery aesthetic which we’ve really enjoyed doing. It’s an upbeat, happy-go-lucky song and we really hope everyone gets behind it!" I'm certainly getting behind it, The Covasettes have yet to disappoint me, they just keep on getting better and better, it's easy to forget they're not as big as bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen because their first three singles have just been so incredibly impressive and just as good! It always impresses me the maturity these lads bring to their music, I've said it before but their songs really are up there with some of the best, and this single is definitely no exception. Perfectly produced once again, the single is so well structured. It’s so easy to listen to with engaging, singalong lyrics, a great song from start to finish. This is their third single and is arguably their best yet, full of energy, overflowing with effervescence and as usual, irresistibly catchy. Chris Buxton's vocals are more infectious than ever before, you'll know exactly what I mean as soon as you hear him sing the lyrics at the end of the first line "taken it's toll" to which there's just something about the way he extends the word '"toll" and that you just simply have to love, I can't really explain it! Make sure you give their latest single 'Top Drawer' a listen, it's a perfect summer tune! It's one you'll be singing the lyrics to for days to come, and just like their first two singles it won't be long before you have this one stuck on repeat too. If you've not yet heard their first two singles, then check them out you'll find all the links on our last feature, I can promise you won't be disappointed. The Covasettes are surely destined for greatness, after only three singles I’ve already fallen in love with their music, I can’t wait for them to release even more. If you ask me it’s only a matter of time before they completely blow up and they’ll be selling out shows up and down the country! But for now we can all just enjoy this latest single and it really is a superb summer anthem.
