CorellaCorella exploded onto the indie scene back in 2016 and since then have gone from strength to strength. They've now achieved over 2 million streams on Spotify alone! They've already had a busy summer performing at the likes of The Great Escape Festival, YNot and Sheffield's Tramlines. This Mancunian outfit certainly have a unique sound, they have energy and talent in abundance. How would I describe their sound? Well, I don't have to as they do it perfectly themselves, they describe their sound as: "breakthrough unsigned, bright sounds quite high energy and easy listening"..."A mixture of unique stuff from ourselves and grabbing other things"..."I think it's current pop music but we give it contemporary indie edge...I think its refreshing, I like to think when people listen to it their not just another indie band" Their most famous song 'Barcelona Girl' is a fast-paced romantic song ideal for the summer sun, and their latest release 'Bloom' is yet another upbeat summer tune full of hooks and distinctive Corella guitar Riffs. CassiaCassia are a quirky three-piece from up North, they're producing joyful, jangly, instantly danceable indie-pop. They have an almost reggae vibe to them. A chilled and relaxed sound yet undeniably catchy. They released their debut album 'Replica' in April this year and - just like Corella - their songs just scream summer. The guitar work can only be described as sun-kissed which is complimented by the drums which have an exciting, afrobeat feel. Overall, Cassia's debut album is a must listen with the songs perfect for your holiday playlist. Take a listen to the album and you will hear exactly why they have had support from the likes of Radio 1's Huw Stephens and Greg James as well as gaining a cult following up and down the country LarkinsYet another Manchester-based band, this time a four-piece called Larkins. The origins of the band stems from lead vocalist Josh and guitarist Dom who began playing music together way back at school together. The band started to blossom when they started studying at college together, sneaking into the college studio after hours to record what they had written in English class. Henry (bass and synths) and Joe (drums) later joined the band, bringing variety with their funk and rock influences. From this point Larkins really started to form their unique sound. Last Year they toured extensively and have exploded into 2019 in much the same way having already performed at Manchester's Albert Hall as well as festivals such as Y Not! Larkins status as one of the most exciting and in-demand bands to have emerged from Manchester in recent years can be seen from the amount of airplay and support they are getting from Radio 1 and Radio X. Since the release of their independent debut EP in 2016, Larkins’ atmospheric and hook-filled brand of indie pop has seen them develop a fervent and dedicated fan base. The release of ‘TV Dream’ marking the start of a more powerful, bass-driven sound. They have continued this theme releasing their shimmering new single 'Sugar Sweet' last month, it contains a huge anthemic chorus that is unmissable as well as the beautiful harmonies that go so well with the slick synths that makes Larkins sound so distinctive.
