Eyes To The Skies - Catchy, Headbanging, Feel-Good TunesWhether you've struggled through a long, hard day at work or had a mundane day at school, stop what you're doing and take a listen to Eyes To The Skies (ETTS) and they promise to brighten up your day. ETTS are a vibrant alternative indie rock band from Portsmouth. The band began with frontman Alex Cooper and lead guitarist George Wolstencroft who have been best mates since primary school, or to use their words "best mates since we were little nippers in school". The lads then went to college where they recruited bassist Jono Harris and drummer Mike Cook to round off the four-piece and they have been gigging now for about a year. The name Eyes To The Skies came about in almost the exact way you'd expect it to: looking at the sky after a bad day and thinking 'somethings gotta change' and the name just stuck for them. Last year they supported indie-rock sensations The Sherlocks and they have already erupted into 2018 in style having headlined Icebreaker Festival. They are only destined for great things, I am yet to see them live but from what I can tell they are going to be one of the best live acts around. These lads might just be up and coming but their tracks are up there with some of the best. In February of this year they released 'Talk', a brilliant single. The intro reminds me of 'T-shirt Weather' by Circa Waves but Eyes To The Skies undoubtedly have their own unique, trademark sound. The song is definitely one to add to that feel-good summer playlist. The catchy, bouncing guitar makes it one of those songs you instantly know you'll love and you'll spend the day bopping along to it. The bands personality shines through in this single, they seem like a really likeable bunch of lads making great music. In March this year the intoxicating four-piece treated us to yet another single, a very aptly named tune 'Intoxicated' showing a different side to their music. This time a more guitar heavy, deeper sound, packed to the brim with energy and the rock influences becoming much more prominent. This song can only be compared to the likes of legends such as The Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. Not only is it instrumentally impressive but the powerful vocals are equally as impressive only adding to the uniquely original sound they are creating. You can hear a full spectrum of different sounds in their music, song-writer Alex told me that some of his biggest songwriting influences come from bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen, alongside Radiohead, The Kooks, and Oasis. If you're a fan of any of these bands as well as Foo Fighters then Eyes To The Skies are well worth checking out!
