I don't know how I stumbled across this band, all I know is I am so glad that I did. Saytr Play are a Indie Pop outfit emerging from Manchester. This quintet is made up of Fred Farrell, Daniel Crowther, Jamie Vere, Thomas Castrey and Juanan Garcia. The band is led by the wild and captivating front-man Fred Farrell, he brings an immense energy to the band which has led to them to gain quite a reputation as a must-see live act that will leave you picking your jaw up off the floor after their performance. Over the past few years the band have Sold-Out several headline shows at some of Manchester’s most iconic music venues as well as appearing at Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival. Last year they played Tramlines in Sheffield as well as Kendal Calling. They really have been putting on some astonishingly good live performances. Saytr Play swooped into 2019 releasing their energetic new single ‘Bang Average’, which is anything but what the name suggests. This single takes the band in a slighlty new direction from their previous release 'Fragile' and has a groovy, unmistakeable sound that Manchester bands are known and loved for. Bang Average comes complete with tempestuous guitars, robust melodies and relevant lyrics. The song gives an unquestionable invitation to get you up on your feet and moving to the infectious sounds. The record was produced by Courteeners Bass Player and long-time collaborator Joe Cross and was released on his own ‘Lovers Music’ label. A great single to say the least Saytr Play have been compared to bands such as The Strokes, Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Vaccines, Cage The Elephant, Iggy Pop and Vampire Weekend. Their unique and catchy sound can be heard on their first two singles ‘Mother’s Love’ and ‘Don’t Go East’, both of which were received exceptionally well. What was brilliant about their debut single 'Mother's Love' was that it was a song that resonated with everyone. A song written in dedication to their Mum for Mothers day (as an excuse not to by them a present) and they certainly produced a brilliantly clever and eloquently written song. Check Out Saytr Play now and your ears will be begging to hear more!
