Escapade - British rock quartet from LeicesterIf you're a fan of The Stone Roses or Oasis then Escapade are definitely the band for you. Their new single 'Take My Love' is unquestionably their best yet, it's a brilliant throwback to the 90's Britpop era fused with psychedelic rock. The single reminded me at times of bands like The Pigeon Detectives, but it is a tune overflowing with catchy 90's guitar riffs with classic rock vocals soaring above the the guitar. When asked what the story behind the single is, the band said "it’s all in the title; maybe a little bit of rejection thrown in there. It started off with a riff that Sam (vocals/rhythm guitar) played that sounded a little Country-style so we jammed it like that for a while. Then, Adam (Lead Guitar) came up with the picking part you can hear in the background; then it came to what it is now, after a lot of stripping back and rewriting." The band recently received success having won the Midlands stage of the SoundWaves Music Compeitition and performing in front of a sold out O2 Academy Birmingham. So check out their latest single 'Take My Love' now! Georgia Fearn - 17 Year old singer-songwriter from Carmarthen.Geargia Fearn approached me to take a listen to her new album: Perfect on Paper. It was a lovely surprise to come across such a varied album from such a young artist, with such a mixture of songs. From folk, indie and alternative rock to pop! 'Misty Mae' is one of my favourite tracks on the album, fierce and catchy, fuelled with character and personality. For such a young songwriter she is writing songs beyond her years, to have wrote a complete album by the age of 17 is remarkable. ‘Catch Me When You Can’ showcases more of a folk-rock side to her music and it really demonstrates the range in Fearn's voice. ‘Emptiness’ is a slower, more delicate ballad, the soft piano hiding behind the raw heartfelt lyrics. There is definitely a vast range on this album that may take a few listens to fully appreciate but 'Perfect On Paper' is well worth checking out, Georgia Fearn could definitely be one to watch for the future. Bryony Williams - New EP 'Conscious'Bryony is a solo musician from the West Midlands and describes herself as an all-round creative bean. I instantly knew I would like Bryony, I mean how many people can pull off a vibrant yellow suit like she does? After the success of her debut EP 'Wanderlust', the alt-pop singer has now released her latest EP, Conscious. This latest six track EP follows in the footsteps of her debut, she is still creating unconventional, innovative music, she's created her own totally individual genre. When asked about the latest EP she said “It’s encompassed with warm, fuzzy guitar tones, cute keys and my voice,” and added "there are a few surprises. The first track, ‘Honey,’ is something very new and artistically out of my comfort zone. But these experimentation's need to happen" she goes on to say that this album is presenting a whole new side to her personality. The album certainly is a musical exploration. Her vocals can best be described as eloquent and soft. Her songs most probably fall under the category of indie-pop. The melodic guitar aided by her vocals create a calm and hypnotic feel to the EP. She creates such an original sound by fusing together electric synths with soft acoustic riffs then somehow incorporating heavy electric guitar too. The highlight of the EP for me has to be 'Whirlpool' the warm, dream-like guitar leaves you in an indie daze. Conscious as a whole is perfect to add to that road trip playlist, with such a warm, uplifting vibe. Check out the EP below: Why not check out our latest playlist?
