THE INDIE ROOMS
Indie-rock band Skylights return following their single 'YRA' which achieved fantastic success, especially with the fans of Leeds Football Club. They're back with their all new single 'What You Are' and it's another brilliant tune from the Yorkshire lads! Like I said in my last feature on Skylights they are an absolutely brilliant find, they're one of the best bands swimming around in the ocean of undiscovered bands out there. I love the fact these lads are an undiscovered gem but also, I can't wait for more of the world to discover them.
This latest single opens with their trademark sound, a classic 90's feel with that same enticing electric guitar that was so prominent in 'YRA.' I made the same comparison in my last feature but again it's great to hear the similarity to the likes of U2 throughout the intro and the upbeat, fast-paced guitar reminiscent of The Sex Pistols. Skylights are definitely keeping rock music well and truly alive. Just like their last single you really get sucked in by the musical grip of this latest tune. What these guys do differently to the sea of other indie-rock bands is not only through their shear exuberance of energy but also their soaring, punky-rock sounds that they create that really do make them stand out from the crowd.
So why not take a listen to 'What Your Are' and 4 minutes will whizz by and you'll definitely be left with a massive smile on your face! If you haven't already go and check out their Yorkshire anthem 'YRA' which has been played on BBC Introducing countless times as well as receiving a whole host of rave reviews.
